Fall 2008 Calendar

Community Programs and Support Groups

Alta Bates Summit Medical Center is dedicated to promoting community wellness and education through the following programs. Classroom locations or times may change occasionally, so please call ahead to confirm both before attending. Call for information on fees and registration as well. Listed are just a few of the classes that we offer.

Spotlight: Make the carepage connection

When Jeff Westcott, 52, unexpectedly fell into a coma, his family and friends were desperate for news. In response to their outpouring of concern, Steve and Ellen, two of Jeff’s family members, created an online “CarePage,” the easy-to-use tool available on the Alta Bates Summit Medical Center website. This free, unique web page is password-protected and offered to patients who are hospitalized or receiving ongoing care, as well as their family and friends.

Visitors to Jeff’s CarePage could also help raise funds to assist Jeff (a contractor) in rebounding from lost business. After 17 days, Jeff regained consciousness and read the heartfelt words left by his CarePage’s 175 visitors. “He was touched beyond belief,” says Ellen.

Creating a CarePage is as simple as filling in a form online (directions are in Spanish and English). For more information, or to create a CarePage, visit our website.
